Skipper Liam Finn scored his 2,000th career point with the fourth of his eight goals in Featherstone’s 52-4 win against Whitehaven at Big Fellas Stadium on Thursday night.

Rovers were only 6-0 up after 30 minutes but ran out easy winners, with Vince Mellars and Will Sharp each bagging three tries and Greg Worthington scoring two.

Sharp completed the rout with a spectacular last minute score in which he fended off several defenders in a barnstorming touchline run.

Jack Bussey was Featherstone’s other try scorer in a victory that kept them three points behind Kingstone Press Championship leaders Sheffield.

Rovers host the Eagles next Wednesday evening in a clash that is set to decide who finishes top.

Chris Fleming scored Whitehaven’s solitary try inn the 62nd minute as they slipped to a fourth successive defeat that ended their play-off hopes.
