FEATHERSTONE Rovers scrum-half Liam Finn (pictured) has been named Northern Rail Cup player of the round for his performance in Sunday’s 32-22 win at York City Knights.

Rovers coach Daryl Powell said: “Liam has been an outstanding acquisition for us .

“He’s a very consistent performer and he’s one of the integral parts of this club.

“He’s been put under big pressure this year by the opposition teams and to play like he did against York and pick up this kind of accolade just shows how good he really is.

“He’s won two player of the year awards in Championship One and the Championship, so he’s shown he can perform at different levels and he’s regarded very highly here at the club. He’s an outstanding player and he’s been one of the shining lights in our side since he arrived here.”

Finn will be presented with his award during Featherstone’s next home fixture against Widnes Vikings on Saturday, February 26.
