Featherstone Rovers hope to have key players back for Saturday’s Kingstone Press Championship game at Leigh (1pm kick-off).
Anthony England (pictured), Jon Hepworth and Greg Worthington all missed last weekend’s 52-6 victory over York City Knights that lifted Rovers back to the top of the table.
Worthington missed his third successive match with a calf injury while Anthony England (hamstring) and Jon Hepworth (hand) were late withdrawals.
Interim head coach Ryan Sheridan will also check on Tim Spears (calf) and Jack Bussey (face) who were injured against York.
“It’s a short turn-around and it’s fingers crossed that the injured players will be fit,” said Sheridan, who was pleased with the way the new centre partnership of Will Sharp and Frankie Mariano shaped up against York last weekend.
Both players are recent recruits. Former Hull FC and London Broncos player Sharp has signed a contract to the end of the season and Mariano is on loan from neighbours Wakefield Wildcats.
“Will Sharp has been been fantastic at centre. He’s been one of our best performers over the last few games. He’s holding down that position well and it’s a good job we’ve got him,” added Sheridan.
“Frankie Mariano is coming into his own and he’s a big threat with the ball in hand and defensively he’s strong as well. It’s a bonus that can play back row and centre for us.”
