FEATHERSTONE Rovers coasted through to the Northern Rail Cup semi-finals with Friday’s nine-try spree against outclassed Hunslet Hawks at South Leeds Stadium.
Jon Grayshon grabbed three tries and Liam Finn landed seven goals from nine kicks as Rovers turned on the style in a 50-12 win.
The semi-final draw will be broadcast live on Sky Sports this Thursday from Bigfellas Stadium during the interval of Featherstone’s Championship home game against Barrow Raiders.
After trouncing Toulouse 56-18 the previous week, Featherstone again piled up the points against a Hunslet team who were pinned in their own half for long periods, especially in the first half.
Grayshon, Tony Tonks and Stuart Dickens were outstanding in the Rovers pack and half-backs Andy Kain and Liam Finn were at the hub of most of the best moves.
Hunslet were totally outplayed as Rovers shot into a 28-0 lead.
Tonks powered over only seven minutes, winger Bryn Powell crossed in the corner, Kain dived in from a play-the-ball and Grayshon bagged his first two tries, the second being the pick with a 30-yard effort.
Hunslet flickered briefly in the second-half when winger Waine Pryce scored against his old club and Elliot Kear converted but the Hawks were soon under the cosh again.
Dickens and Tonks scored further tries for Rovers while Hunslet’s Joe Helme was in the sin-bin.
Hunslet’s Kear scored a 60-yard try before Rovers completed the rout when Grayshon completed his hat-trick with six minutes left and centre Sam Smeaton also crossed.
