Featherstone’s key playmaker Andy Kain is set to be fit for next Wednesday’s crunch Championship match against Sheffield Eagles after being taken off injured in last night’s 52-4 win against Whitehaven.

Rovers interim head coach Danny Evans said: “Andy had a slight groin strain and as soon as it happened there was no point in making him play on or taking any risk. He should be okay for the game against Sheffield.”

Evans added it was unlikely half-back Kyle Briggs would make a surprise comeback this season after knee surgery.

“Kyle has come on absolutely unbelievably and he is way ahead in his rehab but I don’t think he will be back this season. I would say he will definitely be back for the start of pre-season.”
