Featherstone Rovers got off the mark in the Kingstone Press Championship by winning Sunday’s topsy-turvy game against Halifax.
Leading 12-0 after 17 minutes, Rovers found themselves 20-12 behind in the second-half but they hit back to win 28-20 after scoring 16 points in the last 15 minutes.
Late tries from Will Sharp, Jamie Cording and James Mendeika gave Rovers the edge as they bounced back from their 11-10 opening day defeat at Dewsbury.
Jamel Chisholm and Greg Worthington were Featherstone’s other try scorers and Gareth Moore landed four goals from five kicks.
Ben Johnston and ex-Featherstone players Ben Kaye and Ross Divorty crossed for Halifax and Steve Tyrer kicked four goals.
