Lifelong Featherstone Rovers fan Mick Thornton has given the club a financial boost by making a five figure investment in the club’s shares.

Mick is approaching his 60th year as a Rovers supporter and is a regular at all the club’s home and away matches.

He said: “As a Featherstone lad and an avid supporter since the Rovers homecoming from Wembley in 1952, I am delighted to be able to share in the vision and aims of what the club and its directors are currently pursuing.

“By my investment into the club, I want to be part of what I see as an exciting period in the history of Featherstone Rovers and really looking forward to 2014.”

Rovers chairman Mark Campbell said: “Myself and the board of directors cannot thank Mick enough for his generous support and the faith he has shown in us.

“It is great that he recognises all the hard work that is taking place behind the scenes at Featherstone Rovers.

“His support enables us to do many things and it also helps with the major projects we are currently undertaking to improve the infrastructure and facilities for all.

“His significant investment is a fantastic gesture and will help us achieve many of our goals and aspirations.”

Rovers commercial Manager Paul Taylor said: “It is a fantastic boost for Featherstone Rovers that somebody as passionate as Mick is able to support the club he loves in this way.

“Mick is enthusiastic about all things Featherstone and he is determined to see his home town club continue to progress on and off the field.

“Mick during his time as a supporter of the club has seen many glory days as well as some tough times and we are delighted that he has shown such confidence in us. He is highly impressed with the dedication and drive of Mark Campbell and also Paul Coventry and his loyal team volunteers and is confident that we have a rosy future.”
