THE two-day Kingstone Press Summer Bash attracted a record attendance of 16,444 for the third year running at Bloomfield Road in Blackpool.

Saturday’s games, which included Featherstone’s 42-16 defeat against London Broncos, were watched by 11,557 spectators; the highest single day attendance at Summer Bash.

More than 1,000 Featherstone fans made the trip to Blackpool.

Rovers general manager Davide Longo said: “Given less than 15,000 people live in Featherstone, I think it goes without saying that our club took the greatest proportion of supporters to the Summer Bash - based on population.

“Basically, 1/15th of the town travelled to Blackpool. Going up against big-city clubs, like Bradford, London and Hull, such support from the Rovers faithful was terrific.

“Everyone involved with the club is understandably disappointed by the outcome of what was a huge game for us.

“I am sure the players and coaching staff will be looking to bounce back against Hull KR next weekend.

“We are truly thankful to all those who made the journey to Blackpool.

“We are now focusing on what should be a fantastic battle of the Rovers next weekend, with a vital two points on offer.

“We hope to bring fans a fantastic gameday experience, with our new scoreboard now in full operation, and the installation of a new PA system taking place in the days leading up to the game.

“There will be a lot going on next Sunday, in addition to what should be a fantastic main event, so it would be great to see a bumper crowd pack into the LD Nutrition Stadium.”
