Featherstone Rovers have suffered a setback with news that Fijian international Ryan Millard will not be joining them next season.
Rovers had signed the 27-year-old utility back from Rochdale Hornets but a change in the Australian-born player’s family circumstances, involving his father, now means he will not be coming to the Big Fellas Stadium for the 2015 season.
Rovers chief executive Pat Cluskey said: “Ryan has been in constant contact with Andy Hay (Rovers coach) following a change in family circumstances.
“Unfortunately, this has led to Ryan deciding not to take up his contract with Featherstone Rovers.”
Millard said: “I’m pretty disappointed not to be returning to the UK as I was looking forward to pushing for those top four places but I need to be a bit closer to my old man at the moment. I would like to wish the team good luck for next season and I’ll be following how you guys progrees.”
Rovers have sent their good wishes to Ryan, his father and the rest of their family.
