The pre-season derby clash between Featherstone Rovers and Castleford Tigers on Sunday, December 28, has been switched to Castleford’s Mend-A-Hose Jungle (2pm).

The fixture was scheduled to be played at Featherstone’s Big Fellas Stadium but the stadium’s newly-extended pitch will not be ready in time for the game.

Rovers are also re-arranging the pre-season home match against Hunslet Hawks that was planned for Sunday, January 4.

Rovers chief executive Pat Cluskey said: “We’ve been in constant contact with Castleford regarding the fixture on December 28.

“It is of great importance that our pitch is ready for the start of the Kingstone Press Championship in February and playing a game over the Christmas period would be going against advice received.

“I can also confirm that our fixture against Hunslet Hawks will be rearranged to a later date in pre-season.”

Tigers chief executive Steve Gill said: “We’ve been working closely with Featherstone to make sure we don’t let our fans down by cancelling this game. Cas v Fev is always a tasty fixture and we’re looking forward to welcoming the Rovers fans to the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.”

Tickets are priced at adult £15 and concessions £10 for pre-match bookings and adult £16 and concessions £11 on the day.
