FEATHERSTONE Rovers started the new season impressively by trouncing Leigh Centurions 38-6 at Big Fellas Srtadium.

Tom Hodson and Andy Kain each scored two tries and Liam Finn kicked five goals as Rovers underlined they will again be the team to beat in the Championship this season.

Ex-Doncaster winger Hodson and fellow debutant Steve Crossley, signed from Dewsbury, were both outstanding as Rovers powered to a seven-try win in front of a healthy crowd of 2,831.

Kyle Briggs, Tommy Saxton and Andy Ellis were Featherstone’s other try scorers.

Leigh were 28-0 down before they got their only points when Martyn Ridyard converted his own second-half try.
