Featherstone coach Andy Hay was pleased with his side’s display in Sunday’s 62-12 win against Barrow Raiders and the performance of half-back Gareth Moore.
“I thought we did a professional job. We showed good composure,” he said.
“I thought Barrow defended quite well in patches and held us out a couple of times on their own line, making it difficult for us to score, but we didn’t lose focus in what we were doing.
“We stayed quite patient and managed to put quite a number of points on them which was pleasing.
“To score that many points you’ve got to execute well.
“Defensively, I was disappointed with the two tries we conceded. I thought we were a little bit lazy and little bit slack with the first one with the kick through and the intercept is obviously down to an individual error.
“But generally I was pleased with the attitude - it was a lot better than the week before at Whitehaven and we are heading in the right direction.
“Gareth Moore played well last Sunday and he was also good at Whitehaven.
“He’s improving defensively as well and his kicking game has been very good the last few weeks.
“Maybe with Jamie Rooney coming in, it’s put a little bit of pressure on him and it has improved his game or improved his attitude.
“Either way, we are happy to get a player who is working harder in games and pushing himself.”
