Rovers in no rush to appoint new captain

FEATHERSTONE Rovers coach Daryl Powell will take his time in appointing a new first-team skipper.

He may wait until shortly before the start of the new season before choosing a successor to long-serving captain Stuart Dickens who recently joined Wakefield Wildcats as their new under 19s coach.

“I’m going to take a bit of time over making the decision and I’ll probably leave it until close to the season,” said Powell (pictured).

“I’ve obviously got some ideas. We’ve got quite a few experienced players who have got leadership qualities so I don’t think we’ll be short of candidates for the job.

“I don’t see any need to rush the decision. I will take my time and see how people go in training as well, that’s always a good guide.”
