Featherstone’s Championship game at Sheffield Eagles on Thursday has been switched from Bramall Lane to Don Valley Stadium .
The decision was been made after the playing surface at Bramall Lane suffered after Sheffield United’s 0-0 draw with MK Dons on Saturday.
There was standing water on the pitch after the game and the pitch will need a minimum of a fortnight for new grass to take hold.
With recent snow and rain, plus the forecast of more bad weather, it was decided to move the fixture and allow the Bramall Lane surface more time to recover.
Mark Aston (pictured), Sheffield Eagles head coach and chief executive said: “It’s disappointing that we have to move the game but we have made the joint decision with Sheffield United and fully recognise the need to do so.
“We’d like to thank Sheffield International Venues for agreeing to stage our game at Don Valley Stadium and look forward to welcoming our supporters, sponsors and our visitors Featherstone to Don Valley on Thursday.”
Thursday’s game will kick off at 7.30pm and is live on Premier Sports.
Anyone who has already purchased a ticket for the game or exchanged their season ticket voucher for a ticket can still use these at the game on Thursday.
