Championship table-toppers Featherstone Rovers have beaten off competition from Super League clubs to sign Huddersfield Giants second-rower Shaun Pick on a two-year contract.
The 20-year-old Pontefract-born player joined Huddersfield from Castleford Tigers.
Former Lock Lane ARLFC player Pick said: “I’m looking forward to a new start at such an ambitious club like Featherstone Rovers. I was shown around the ground and was really impressed with the new facilities.
“I’m aware what the club are doing with the youth department and although I had offers from other clubs including Super League I cannot wait to get started. My ambition is to play Super League and I fully believe I can do so at Featherstone Rovers”
Rovers chief executive Craig Poskitt said: “We are delighted that Shaun has decided to continue his rugby league education at Featherstone Rovers. We were surprised that Castleford Tigers decided to release a player of such potential and calibre.
“Shaun fits the bill perfectly as we continue to build our youth development structures. It was clear to see that our new Centre of Excellence which is being constructed at the moment was a major factor in attracting a quality young player like Shaun to the club.
“Shaun is an ambitious person and ultimately his aim is to play Super League and we feel we are now in a position to meet his ambitions in the not too distant future.”
