Featherstone Rovers have signed 24-year-old former Castleford Tigers forward Jonny Davies from Sheffield Eagles.

Rovers head coach Jon Sharp said: “Jonny played 27 times for the Eagles last season and is a dependable player who, despite only being 24, will add some experience and guile to our forwards.”

Davies himself is looking forward to lnking up with his new teammates at the Big Fellas Stadium.

“Being from Pontefract, Fev is my local club and I’m aware of its history and the great players who have represented the Rovers,” he said.

“Fans can rest assured that during the next two years I will be doing all I can to ensure we will be competing for one of the top four places in the Kingstone Press Championship.

“The opportunity to play here for the next two seasons will give some security to both myself and my family and having played against Fev on a number of occasions it wlll be great to play in front of a large and vociferous crowd.”

Young forward Jack Ormondroyd has signed a new three-year contract at Featherstone.

Ormondroyd said: “Obviously I’m delighted to re-sign for Rovers having made my debut last season.

“To be honest I didn’t think I’d play as many games as I did last season and my aim for 2016 is to play as many if not more.

“As a youngster I followed the Bulls and to get the chance to play against them at Odsal, and win, was probably my highlight of the year along with winning the Kingstone Press Championship Shield.

“Over the course of my contract I want to help Fev win some more silverware and do my best to ensure the Club goes from strength to strength.”

Rovers team boss Sharp said: “Jack is one of the players we can build our pack around. He is a dynamic forward and has showed during the past season the potential to make a great career for himself in the game. If his development continues then I’m sure he’ll become a real fans’ favourite at the club.”

Featherstone’s 2016 ‘early bird’ season tickets are now on sale priced £100 concessions and £150 adults and includes the 11 Kingstone Press Championship fixtures at the Big Fellas Stadium plus an unreserved seat for the 2016 Summer Bash.

Fans who purchase their season ticket by October 31 will be entered into a draw to win the cost of their season ticket back.

Junior season tickets are currently priced £40 and grant access to all home and away Kingstone Press Championship fixtures.
