FEATHERSTONE Rovers staged a remarkable recovery to snatch a dramatic 34-32 win at Halifax in this afternoon's Northern Rail Cup group match.
Featherstone's club record 14-match winning run looked set to end when they trailed 22-6 with less than 30 minutes remaining in a cracking game that saw both sides reduced to 12 men after the dismissals of Michael Haley (Rovers) and Craig Ashall (Halifax) in the 53rd minute for fighting.
Rovers levelled at 28-28 with less than two minutes of normal time remaining but Halifax quickly regained the lead with Ben Heaton's second try.
However, Halifax's Steve Tyrer missed the conversion and the home side were then pipped at the death when Kyle Briggs scored in the dying seconds and Liam Finn landed a match-winning touchline conversion with the last kick of the game to finish with five goals.
Featherstone's Ian Hardman scored three tries and Andy Bostock and Tangi Ropati also crossed as Rovers avenged last season's Northern Rail Cup semi-final defeat against Halifax.
