Featherstone Rovers have named Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire as the official partner of the club’s annual gala day which takes place next Monday.
The event, which attracts more than 1,500 people each year, will feature the full Rovers first team. It is free for children to attend and costs just £2 for adults.
Thanks to the housebuilder’s support, all of the event overheads are covered and all money raised will go straight to the Featherstone Rovers Foundation.
Attractions on the day will include tribute bands, a bouncy castle, a bushtucker trial, free stalls for local charities and the opportunity to gunge Rovers players.
Anne Bagshaw, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey said: “As the Featherstone Rovers’ principal community partner, we were extremely keen to partner with the club on the gala day which is a fun event for everybody in the local community.
“Not only will it be the best value Bank Holiday day out in Wakefield – a high turnout will raise vital funds for the club’s fantastic foundation which goes straight back into the community, so we would urge everybody to go along to the event.”
In 2013 the Featherstone Rovers Foundation fed more the £250,000 back into the local community. The money helps some of Wakefield’s most vulnerable people.
The gala day raised £2,000 last year, with this year’s event projected to raise upwards of £3,500.
Laurabeth Jaggar, head of community development at Featherstone Rovers said: “As a huge brand and a superb Yorkshire business, we are thrilled to have the backing of Taylor Wimpey.
“Further to the financial support, which is of course vital, the firm is truly doing its bit for the community and will be involved with the event at every level. We cannot thank them enough for their support!”
