Featherstone Rovers half-back Kyle Briggs is set to be sidelined longer than initially feared with damaged ankle ligaments.

It was originally thought Briggs would be out for four to six weeks but now it could be 12 weeks.

Rovers coach Jon Sharp said: “Kyle had the initial x-rays at the A&E and then we sent him to a specialist.

“There’s a little bit more damage than we initially thought. He could be out for upto 12 weeks.”

Sharp does not expect any injured players back for Sunday’s Championship match at Workington Town but the good news was that depleted Rovers came through last Sunday’s game against Halifax without any fresh injuries.

With regard to the club’s injury problems, he added: “The players are responding well on the field and we are finding a way to play well.”

The Rovers boss will be checking on the availability of dual registered players. Leeds Rhinos pair Jordan Baldwinson and Jordan Lilley played against Halifax.

“We probably won’t find out until Friday who we’ve got so it will be a late call on that,” said Sharp.
