A troublesome back injury has forced Featherstone Rovers utility player Jonny Hepworth to retire from playing.
The 30-year-old former Castleford Tigers star joined Rovers in 2011 from Rotherham Titans RUFC when he linked up again with then Rovers boss Daryl Powell.
Hepworth played under Powell when he coached Super League club Leeds Rhinos and Leeds Tykes rugby union team.
Hepworth said: “I’ve been fortunate in my rugby career to play for some great clubs and experience some great moments and I include Featherstone Rovers in that.
“For 13 years I enjoyed a career that was virtually injury free but unfortunately I have been suffering with a disc problem in my back which has meant I have found things more difficult than I am used to. This is particularly tough as a part time player with a full time job during the day.
“Featherstone Rovers are a great club and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the club.”
