Featherstone Rovers bounced back from two successive defeats against Leigh Centurions by beating last season’s Grand Final winners Sheffield Eagles at Owlerton Stadium on Sunday.
Rovers, who have delayed the appointment of a new head coach to replace John Bastian, looked to be heading for another defeat when they trailed 22-10 at half-time but they stormed back superbly to dominate the second-half and run out 36-22 winners.
They turned the game on its head by scoring 26 unanswered second-half points after Matt James sparked the revival with a 53rd minute touchdown.
Kyle Briggs piled up 16 points with a try and six goals.
Ben Hellewell bagged two tries and Greg Worthington and James Mendeika also crossed.
Sheffield’s try scorers were Quentin Laulu-Togagae (two), Gareth Owen and Jordan Burke. Dominic Brambani kicked three goals.
