Rovers warm up for Leigh clash with big win

Featherstone Rovers warmed up for Friday’s Kingstone Press Championship top of the table clash at Leigh Centurions by trouncing Barrow Raiders 62-12 at Big Fellas Stadium on Sunday,

Andy Ellis, Greg Worthington, Will Sharp and Gareth Moore each bagged two tries as second-placed Rovers put the relegated Raiders to the sword.

Steve Crossley, George Flanagan, Chris Annakin and Jason Crookes were Featherstone’s other try scorers and new signing Jamie Rooney, who started at scrum-half, kicked six goals.

Featherstone led 30-6 at half-time and added 32 second-half points to stay two points ahead of third-placed Halifax.

The only setback for Rovers was the loss of hooker Flanagan who was taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg.
