Castleford Tigers grabbed a 30-30 draw in their Boxing Day pre-season match against Halifax at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.
Championship outfit Halifax recovered from 22-10 down to lead 30-26 before the Tigers levelled the scores with winger Richard Owen’s fourth try two minutes from time.
Kirk Dixon missed the touchline conversion, leaving the scores tied in a keenly-contested testimonial game for Tigers prop Craig Huby.
Ex-Batley winger Gareth Potts was Halifax’s man of the match with a hat trick of tries.
Castleford were quickly 12-0 up with tries from Daryl Clark and Dixon who added both goals.
Owen also crossed twice in the first-half but Halifax were only eight points behind at the break after Potts grabbed his first two touchdowns and Ben Johnston also scored.
Halifax forged ahead in the second-half when Potts completed his treble and Sam Brooks and Simon Brown also went over, with Steve Tyrer kicking his third goal, but Owen scored two more tries to ensure the sides finished level in a game watched by a crowd of 3,621.
