Featherstone Rovers will aim to snatch top spot in the Kingstone Press Championship in tonight’s televised clash against Sheffield Eagles at Big Fellas Stadium.

Victory by more than 12 points would see Rovers leapfrog the Eagles ahead of the last game of the regular season this weekend.

It promises to be a titanic clash as last season’s two Grand Finalists lock horns for only the second time this year. Featherstone lost 26-18 at Sheffield in March.

Rovers, aiming to lift the League Leaders’ Shield for the fourth successive season, have won eight of their last nine league games while Sheffield boast a 15-match winning league run.

Featherstone’s interim head coach Danny Evans said: “Everyone wants to finish in top spot and we are no different. We’ve done it for the last three seasons and we’d like to do it again.”

Rovers stand-off Andy Kain, who was taken off with a groin injury in last Thursday’s 52-4 win against Whitehaven, is expected to be fit.

Featherstone could also welcome back second-rower Tim Spears who missed the Whitehaven match with a groin injury.
