Volunteers including players, coaching staff and committee members are pictured putting the finishing touches to Methley Royals’ changing facilities at Savile Park last weekend.

The group which included Sarah Handforth - wife of coach Paul - and son Jayden spent part of Sunday on exterior paintwork after Leeds City Council, through Parks Officer Steve Grundy and councillors Keith Wakefield, James Lewis and Mary Harland, had facilitated the renovation of the interior.

Methley will celebrate completion of the work this Saturday when Lindley Swifts visit in the second round of the BARLA Yorkshire Cup (2pm kick-off).

The Huddersfield outfit won the competition in 2000-01 as dark horses.

Also in the the second round on Saturday, Fryston visit Chequerfield Rangers and Brotherton Bulldogs host Reckitts.

The draw for the Pennine League’s Presidents Cup first round includes Illingworth v Allerton Bywater, Fryston v Halifax Irish, Brotherton Bulldogs v Dewsbury Moor and Drighlington v Chequerfield Rangers.

Cutsyke Raiders host Crigglestone All Blacks, Kellingley Welfare visit Lindley Swifts and Methley Royals travel to Hunslet Parkside in the Andrew Bennett Memorial Trophy first round.

Dates for the ties have yet to be confirmed.
