Fryston Warriors lifted the Castleford and Featherstone ARL’s Edgar Hanson Invitation Floodlit Cup last night (Wednesday) with a 14-6 success over holders Featherstone Lions at Lock Lane.

Andy Matthews bagged two tries as Fryston recovered from an early setback when Featherstone’s Adam Jones crossed and Ian Jackson goaled.

Despite a superb display by man of the match Kyle Littlewood, Lions were unable to build on their early score.

Fryston soon levelled when Steve Scott went over and Andy Dobek converted.

The Warriors then went ahead when Matthews crossed in the closing seconds of the first half.

That was how it stayed until 13 minutes from time when Matthews grabbed his second score to clinch a hard-earned victory.
