FRYSTON lifted Castleford and Featherstone ARL’s Edgar Hanson Invitation Cup at Castleford Lock Lane on Thursday evening by repeating their victory over Nevison Leap in the David Poulter Open Cup final three weeks earlier.
The sides were locked at 12-12 at half-time but Fryston ran away with the game in the last 40 minutes to emerge 34-16 winners.
Fryston’s Andy Speake (pictured) piled up 14 points with a try and five goals.
With MOM Jack Lee to the fore, the Warriors upped the tempo in the second period, posting four tries before Nevison completed the scoring with a late consolation effort by hooker Jamie Barrass.
Fryston’s second-half spree began when Lee sent in Dale Cogan.
Lee then grabbed a long range try before Speake crossed.
Fryston wrapped things up when prop Johnny Jones forced his way over.
Craig Savage and Adam Whittingham were Fryston’s first-half try scorers.
Nevison first-half points came from touchdowns by Barrass and Steve Lawrie, plus two Sam Wilson conversions.
