Amateur RL club Methley Royals have thanked Castleford Panthers and Castleford RUFC for helping ensure that this weekend’s two fixtures can go ahead.

Methley’s first and second teams are both at home in the Castleford and Featherstone ARL’s David Poulter Open Cup quarterfinals, against Kellingley Welfare and Sherburn Bears respectively.

They are unable to play either game at their Savile Park base because Methley United soccer team, with whom they share the pitch, had already been given a home fixture in the Wakefield League.

Panthers stepped forward to host the first team’s match with Kellingley, while Castleford RUFC have made Pinfold Lane, in Methley, available.

All four teams, and the match officials, will change at Panthers. Both games will kick off at 2pm.

Methley vice chairman Phil Hodgson said: “We are very grateful to Castleford RUFC and Castleford Panthers RLFC for their assistance. We’ll have two cracking matches on offer and we’ve no doubt we’ll attract a healthy crowd at each tie.”
