NEVISON Leap coach Richard Addy saluted his team’s gallant display after Saturday’s 24-10 defeat against favourites Sharlston Rovers in the Hamuel Reichenbacher Yorkshire Cup final at Featherstone’s Big Fellas Stadium.

The Pontefract team defended magnificently in an enthralling contest in heavy conditions.

They looked capable of causing an upset when they were only 12-10 behind with 10 minutes left but Sharlston came out on top in the closing stages.

“I was disappointed to lose but I was chuffed to bits with the performance,” said Addy.

“After that display, we can hold our heads high and we can push on. We are now aiming to win the Pennine League Championship Division title and make an impact in the National Cup.

“We can certainly learn from our experience in Saturday’s final. We also have two new signings joining in the New Year to add to our squad.”

Luke Thomas and Kyle Bailey were Nevison’s try scorers and Daniel Richardson kicked one goal.
