A spirited team effort earned Team Tagons a place in the Play Touch Rugby League Coast to Coast Championship Cup Final in Blackpool, but they missed out on retaining the trophy as they lost to 2016 national champions Yorkshire Thorns five tries to one.

Throughout the day Tagons showed why they were current cup holders as they came through hard fought first round games against Batley Boys, Catterick, but two late controversial tries against Yorkshire Thorns denied them a shot at The Super Cup, which later went home with the Batley Boys.

Catterick proved difficult opponents in the knockout stage semi-final but tries from Armstrong, Cawthorne, Cox and Hope sealed a 4-0 win.

Darren Cawthorne, Jack Waites and Gary Hope picked up the man of the matches throughout the day with Cawthorne named Tagons player of the tournament.
