Castleford CC’s game against Sheffield Collegiate in the Yorkshire ECB Premier League was abandoned on Saturday after rain washed out play early in the second innings.

The weather was maybe a relief for Castleford after they had batted first and were all out for only 109.

They only reached three figures thanks to a terrific effort from county player David Wainwright, who hit 68, and did his best to hold the innings together.

Wainwright also took two early Sheffield wickets before the game ended with Collegiate on 26-2 after 8.3 overs of their reply.

Castleford seconds lost by seven wickets to Pickering after being bowled out for 93 in their Division Three North game in the York Senior League.
