Talented Methley all-rounder Matthew Waite and Wakefield-born seam bowler Jared Warner have both signed junior professional contracts with Yorkshire County Cricket Club until December, 2017.

Waite, who celebrated his 20th birthday on Christmas Eve, captained Yorkshire Academy in the summer when they lifted the Yorkshire League Cup and Black Sheep Champions Trophy.

He has already been involved in the senior Yorkshire set-up. He made his NatWest T20 Blast debut against Northamptonshire in July. He has also played four matches for Yorkshire in white ball cricket.

Martyn Moxon, Yorkshire’s director of cricket, said: “Both Jared and Matthew deserve the recognition of earniung a junior professional contract. We expect them to progress even further over the next few years. Our objective is for them to be prepared and ready to step up to the senior side as and when they are called upon.”
