Eleanor's got that elegant look in final
ELEGANT brunette Eleanor Jodrell-Gregson was crowned the Look Of 2007 at a nail-biting final on Tuesday.
Proud family and friends of the 12 finalists packed Mustang Sally's to see the city's most beautiful women battle it out in the 11th annual Look Of event.
Clare Frisby, the glamorous presenter of BBC's Look North, compered the Wakefield Express and Philips Hair Salon event, which has seen past winners go to the dizzy heights of the modelling world.
Ms Frisby said: "Look Of is a unique competition which has got everything – suspense, nerves, laughter, tears and one winner, who is going to go all the way.
"The girls are all worthy finalists and Eleanor is just sensational.
"You'd better watch out for her name, it's going to be big.
"She has classic glamour and urban chic but she's not just a beauty, but clever and has an infectious personality."
Eleanor can expect big things in the next 12 months.
As well as being an ambassador for Wakefield, she won a host of prizes including an introduction to modelling course at the Louise Morton Modelling Agency and a year's free hairdressing at Philips Hair Salons.
St Wilfrid's High School A-level student Eleanor, 16, from Normanton, said: "I am so overwhelmed and excited.
"It was brilliant to reach the final and it's all down to the support of all my family and friends who all went out of their way to vote for me.
"I couldn't believe it when my name was announced, they had to push me on to the stage.
"It was surreal.
"I've always wanted to model so I'm really looking forward to the course and the year ahead."
This year also saw a first for Look Of, with 17-year-old Lauren Whitworth from Eastmoor judged to have been given the most dramatic makeover.
Lauren, who is studying medical science at Wakefield College, said: "I've really enjoyed the whole experience.
"I never expected it and I'm so pleased that I won."
Entertainment was provided by local band The Solicitors, Voice of 2007 winner Carrie Winfield and the Wildcat Dolls.
Philips Hair Salons owner and event organiser Philip Dickinson said: "This year's event wasn't just a competition it was a variety show.
"The music was brilliant.
"Eleanor is beautiful – tall, elegant and with an angelic face and Lauren looked outstanding, a deserved winner too."
Express editor Mark Bradley said: "This year's Look of event was definitely the best so far.
"It was a great night of entertainment and all of the finalists were looking absolutely stunning."
