POURING rain failed to dampen the spirits of delighted visitors to Featherstone's annual gala in Purston Park.

A brass band, with Mayor of Featherstone Dave Herrington, led a dripping wet promenade from St Wilfrid's Catholic High School to the festivities on Saturday.
Gala queen Nicola Howarth escaped the raindrops in her carriage before arriving at the park to enjoy stiltwalkers, clowns, a fun fair and classic car display.
Coun Herrington said: "I take my hat off to everyone who took part, especially those in the parade.
"We got absolutely soaked from St Wilfrid's but when we got to the park the sun did come out.
"Our dog show, donkey rides and falconry didn't go ahead because of the rain but there was a great turn out.
"I'd like to thank all who came along and supported the gala despite the bad weather."
