A SEA of Santa hats filled Pontefract Park as more than 150 people completed a festive charity dash on Sunday.
Runners donned their Father Christmas suits and braved icy weather to complete the 2km event, which raised £1,500 for Pontefract's Prince of Wales Hospice through entry fees alone.

Families and friends – including a 71-year-old woman, a baby in a tinsel covered pram and even a dog – were cheered on by crowds as they ran for a cause close to their hearts.

Organiser Mandy Metcalfe, hospice events and community fundraiser, said: "Our first Santa dash was a brilliant success with people from all over the region and aged from six to 71 taking part.

"We don't how much has been raised in sponsorship but one boy has £225, so it should be quite a large amount and every penny will be spent on patient care.

"I'd like to thank everyone who joined in the run and our sponsors, Scottish and Southern at Ferrybridge C Power Station. It was a fantastic fun day."

People who took part in the hospice's Santa Dash – including those from Leeds, Sheffield and Cleethorpes – received a medal and could keep their suit for next year's event.
