STARS from television turned out for a charity football match to raise money for little Wildcat Brennan Rooney. Big Brother's Chanelle Hayes kicked off the match at the Wildcats' Belle Vue home.
The game was held to help four-year-old Brennan, the son of rugby star player Jamie Rooney.
Brennan suffers from cerebral palsy and the whole of the community has been involved in a heroic fundraising effort to send the youngster to
Poland for the specialist treatment he needs.
Mr Rooney said: "It was a great turn-out and it means everything to us, for all these stars to give up their time.
"I cannot thank people enough."
Home grown, Miss Hayes, 19, from Middlestown, was back on her home turf for the day.
And just seconds after she got the game underway she was mobbed by fans on the touchline delaying the game.
Miss Hayes said: "I didn't mean to stop the game.
"This is a really good cause for Wakefield. It's for Jamie's son and I am pleased to support it."
Actors from shows including Emmerdale, Shameless and Casualty took on a team made up of police officers and Wildcats stars.
More than 1,500 people turned up for the game, on Sunday and saw the celebrity team win 3-2 against the cops's team which featured Brennan's dad.
