Friday March 12

MUSIC
Pontefract Music Festival classical vocal solos and music theatre solos sessions are held at Pontefract Central Methodist Church from 2pm to 9pm.

BEETLE
St Andrew's Church at Ferrybridge is holding at beetle drive at 7pm. Tickets cost £2.50 including a glass of wine and light refreshments.

CEILIDH
Thornycroft Centre, Pontefract is holding a St Patrick's Day ceilidh from 7.30pm to 11pm with live ceilidh band Ramshackle. Tickets cost £6.95, including stew and dumplings supper. Bar opens at 7pm. For tickets call into the centre on Halfpenny Lane or telephone 01977 703384.

QUIZ
Harry Beevers holds a quiz night at Bridge Arts, Sagar Street, Castleford, at 7.30pm as part of the Castleford Heritage Trust's 10th anniversary celebrations. Admission £2 including refreshments. Raffle and tombola.

LINE
A line dance social evening with Kath takes place at Knottingley Town Hall from 7.30pm to 10.30pm. Bar. Admission £3.

SOUL
A northern soul night featuring DJs Pete Jay and LIttle Av and guest DJs Steve Mank and John Hinchcliffe takes place at Manifesto Soul Club, Kellingley Club, Marine Villa Road, Knottingley, from 8pm to 1am. Saturday March 13

MUSIC
Pontefract Music Festival pop vocal solos and musical theatre sessions take place at Pontefract Central Methodist Church from 9.30am to 4pm. Audience welcome, adults £1, children free. There will also be a winners' concert at the church starting at 7pm. Admission for adults £4, children free. For more details email pontfest@hotmail.co.uk.

EASTER
A pre-Easter coffee morning with stalls, Easter raffle and bacon butties takes place at the United Reformed Church, The Croft, Knottingley, from 10am to 11.30am.

BREW
A coffee morning, including cake stall and handmade cards, takes place at Ropewalk Methodist Church in Knottingley from 10am to noon. Entry £1, including refreshments.

COFFEE
A coffee morning with various stalls including Mother's Day and Easter gifts takes place at St Michael's Church, Carleton, from 10am to noon. Proceeds to church funds.

SPRING
A spring fair takes place at Micklegate Methodist Church, Pontefract (near the castle) from 10am to 2pm. Various stalls including books, toys, cakes, cards, bric-a-brac, fancy good, tomobola. Refreshments and light lunches available. Admisison free.

JUMBLE
A jumble sale takes place at Featherstone Methodist Church from 2pm to 4pm.

RECITAL
Soprano Danae Eleni will give a recital of popular operatic arias at the Meeting House, Ackworth, at 7.30pm. For more details visit www.ackworthconcertsociety.com or call 07946 594099.

PRESLEY

Sunday March 14

MOTHERS
A Mother's Day service will be held at South Featherstone Gospel Hall, Station Lane, Featherstone, at 11.30am. All welcome.

PRAISE
Churches in Featherstone are holding a songs of praise service at Featherstone Methodist Church at 6pm.
