Friday September 3

EXHIBITION
An exhibition of paintings and photography takes place at St Peter's Church, Kirk Smeaton, with a preview on Friday September 3 from 7pm to 9.30pm, admission £5 including wine and canapes, and then on Saturday September 4 from 10.30am to 5pm, and Sunday September 5 from 10.30am to 4.30pm, admission £2.50, including refreshments.

REUNION
A school reunion takes place at The Rock Inn, Glass Houghton, Castleford, at 7.30pm, for former pupils of Castleford High School who graduated in 1976. Contact Karen Parker, nee Southern, on 01977 515472 for more details.

Saturday September 4

STALL
A charity stall will be held in the old market hall, Carlton Street, Castleford, on Saturday September 4, selling hand-made cards and gifts, second-hand goods and a tombola.

COFFEE
A coffee morning takes place at All Saints' Church, Hightown, Castleford, on Saturday September 4 from 10am to noon.

FLOWER
A flower festival takes place at St Mary the Virgin Church, Great North Road, Micklefield, on Saturday September 4 from 10am to 5pm and Sunday September 5 from 11am to 6pm, followed by a songs of praise with Micklefield Male Voice Choir. Light refreshments will be available throughout the weekend.

OPEN
St Mary's Church, Birkin and Beal, has an open day on Saturday September 4, from 10.30am to 4pm, including tours of the church, the launch of a book by Henry Farrar about the area, refreshments, Pontefract Family History Society and ends with an evensong service.

FAIR
Ledsham fair takes place on Saturday September 4 from 11am, including produce show, dog show, Towton Battlefield Society, children's amusements, dancing displays, church flower festival, craft stalls, falconry, brass mand, village stalls and refreshments.

Sunday September 5

WALK
Wakefield and District Walking Group meets at 2pm at Carleton Community High School, Pontefract, (SE463203) for a six-mile leisurely walk to Ackworth and Hundhill Hall. For details contact Murray on 01977 700327.
