This year, Artwalk Wakefield, a group which showcases creative works through stage events, has adapted the programme to be delivered virtually to local communities access to art during the pandemic.

Usually they host a bi-monthly evening of art, performance, music, heritage and socialising, which takes place across a variety of independent venues in Wakefield city centre.

On Wednesday, November 25 at 5pm, Artwalk will launch their virtual market place to shine a spotlight on local artists.

Artwalk Producer, Amy Lilley said: “We wanted to support our wonderful community of artists and makers at a time when many of them would normally be selling their products at fairs and markets across the country in the run up to Christmas.

“We know our incredible Artwalk visitors are keen to support Wakefield’s creative community so it just made sense to bring everyone together virtually this festive season.

“Thirty artists, makers and creative businesses have been handpicked to showcase and sell their work for the event. From jewellery and homewares to cards and paintings at a range of prices to suit any budget, Artwalk has you covered this Christmas.”

The programme will run every day through to the last day of December between 5pm-9pm.
