The Hepworth Wakefield is celebrating its 9th birthday today

It was nine years ago today that The Hepworth opened it its doors in Wakefield.

At the time it hosted much fanfare with crowds and media gathering to welcome the newest and one of the best galleries in the country.

Nearly a decade on the crisis means that people can't celebrate in the way they might have previously.have.

But the gallery is looking for people to share their memories and pictures from the day.

The galleries official Twitter account said: "It's our 9th birthday today and a #ThrowbackThursday to our opening #OnThisDay in 2011!

"Did you visit on the opening weekend? We'd love you to share your #THWmemories and photos with us!"
