Eastenders, Emmerdale and MasterChef final among shows cancelled after Prince Philip's death

Prince Philip passed away this morning, at the age of 99, Buckingham Palace confirmed.
And as national coverage continues into the afternoon and evening, BBC and ITV have both confirmed that all planned scheduling has been suspended.

Hide AdThe BBC had initially suspended programming until 6pm, but has now confirmed plans for BBC news specials to continue into the early hours of the morning.
Meanwhile, ITV will run dedicated news coverage until 5pm, before a special titled Prince Philip: Duke of Edinburgh ahead of local news at 6pm and the ITV Evening News at 6.30pm.
A series of dedicated documentaries and programmes will then air on ITV into the evening.
It means that Eastenders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale will not air as planned.

Hide AdThe planned broadcast of the MasterChef final has also been postponed, to be replaced with a BBC News Special about the Duke of Edinburgh.
However, Channel 4, Channel 5, ITV 2 and 3 and BBC Four will resume normal scheduling into the evening, with programmes including Top of the Pops, Doc Martin and The Gadget Show airing as planned.
