Free festival for young people at Nostell Priory

The Overload2K14 festival, organised by youngsters from across the area, Wakefield Council and Faceless Arts, will be held in the grounds of Nostell Priory on Saturday, June 21.

It will include performances from Castleford’s Jack Walton and his band, Third Knight, Chemical Child and Fear of the Faith, with more acts still to sign up.

Coun David Dagger, cabinet member for culture, sports and libraries, said: “This is a great event which aims to entertain young residents from our district. It will bring together many creative talents with a wide range of art activities appealing to many youngsters’ tastes and we hope to see them there.”

The festival has been backed by the council’s Youth Development and Support Service (YDS) who have provided funded through Faceless Arts.

Bev Adams, Artistic Director at Faceless Arts said: “I have been so impressed by the determination and hard-work of the planning group who have been meeting since January.

“They have found and contracted acts, are organising the promotional material and site facilities and will produce a brilliant festival for young people this summer.”

Entry to the event is free of charge but some on site activities may carry a small charge and there is a £3 charge per car for parking.

The festival will run from 3pm to 10pm.

Festival organisers are still looking for dance, drama and art and craft activities.
