Get your tickets for award show

Tickets for the annual Wakefield and Pontefract Concert Secretaries’ Federation Clubland awards show are now available.

The event is taking place this year at Carlton WMC near Rothwell and I’m sure its concert secretary Paul Kew will provide a warm welcome to all visitors. The big night is November 2 and the popular entertainer Sheldon Bonner is presenting the show.

The acts chosen to receive awards this year in the different categories are best female entertainer Ellie Gent, best male entertainer Trevor Craig, best duo Two Steps Forward, best comedy entertainer James Brandon and best band Carefree.

A popular and viable local federation is enormously valuable within any clubland area and I’m sure that the new federation president Stan Breedon will be doing his best to promote the business done by this local group of club people. I shall definitely be going along to see the show on the big night.

The lovely local lady Anne Christie has a lovely voice which is always well worth listening to and Moorthorpe Empire Club is her port of call this weekend for a Saturday night show.

I’m sure that many of Anne’s pals will be going along to catch her in action. Incidentally, I hear that another lovely South Elmsall lady Demmi has not been too well lately. Let’s hope this cracking lass is back on form again soon.

Former South Elmsall agent Mick Jones is appealing for former clients of the old MVM Agency to come forward and help out with a special charity event.

The details of the event are deeply personal and are perhaps best explained to interested parties by Mick himself.

If anyone associated with this company would like to get in touch with me, I will happily put you in touch with Mick.

South Elmsall duo Second Journey was on fine form when they worked with me on a show last Saturday night.

There was lots going on during this very crowded evening, which featured a pantomime starred many performers from this area.

The stars included Chris Powell from Crofton, Len Jones from Castleford, Curly and Dawn Smart from Castleford and lady called Dorian from Pontefract. Second Journey joined in the fun and provided a great dance spot.

Nothing was too much trouble for these lads and it was nice to hear some well sing vocal harmony.

Wakefield entertainer Jamie McKnight is staging a charity event in this area on November 30. The Prince of Wales Hospice will benefit from the show, which is being staged in Wakefield at Westgate Common Club.

Popular entertainer Jonathan Carroll will be compere on the night and a galaxy of clubland stars have pledged to put in an appearance on the night.

Wakefield band Dan Knight’s Storm have a new guitarist and young Jason who plays the guitar now in the Storm line-up, has a very talented dad.

John Mycroft’s talent as a guitarist must have rubbed off on Jason as he looks like a real chip off the old black to me. Storm can be seen On November 30 between 2pm and 6pm, performing for charity at the Union pub in Horbury Road. Wakefield Hospice is set to benefit from the gig, so be early.
