Panto back in Leeds!

panto season rocks and rolls back into Leeds as the City Varieties comes home for the first time since its refurbishment.

Aladdin The Rock ‘n Roll Panto is open now, until January 8 at the legendary venue.

A cast of familiar characters come together in a whole new kind of pantomime where every character is also in the live band.

A full Commitments-type band of saxophones, drums and guitars is on stage at all times belting out big hits including Born to be Wild, Tutti Frutti, I’m a Believer and I’ll Be There for You.

With all the usual audience participation, and more than a few surprises, Aladdin The Rock ‘n Roll Panto promises to be a high-energy, musical rollercoaster ride through the legendary story.

Peter Sandeman, general manager of City Varieties Music Hall, said: “Due to our huge refurbishment this is our first panto since 2008 and we’re relaunching with a bang.

It’s a great show with a hugely talented cast and in our beautiful theatre there is the distinct feel of a traditional Christmas.”
