300 firms sign up for skills initiative
Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) launched its Five Three One initiative to offer free support for companies to develop and grow their workforce.
LEP bosses said a surge in the number of employers taking advantage of the free scheme generated new apprenticeships, work placements and jobs around the city region.

Hide AdCompanies who signed up include Harris Construction Management, based at Elmsall Way, South Elmsall.
Chief executive Jason Adlam said: “The support given was fantastic. They listened to what we found challenging and we now not only have apprentices on site but also in business and administration which has given further support to our teams.
“We have been amazed by the talent of these young individuals, their enthusiasm and commitment has been brilliant.
“We couldn’t be happier that we decided to join five three one.”

Hide AdBusiness joining Five Three One are asked to build links with education, mentor budding entrepreneurs, offer placements and apprenticeships and up-skill their workforce.
Leeds City Region LEP chairman Roger Marsh said: “I am delighted that 300 companies have now benefitted from the LEP’s support through our five three one campaign.
“With an economic value of £7m, we can see the positive impact that enabling businesses to develop and grow their workforce has had on the regional economy.
“I urge more businesses to take advantage of this free initiative.”
The 300th firm to sign up to Five Three One was fabric design company Access North Structures, based in Huddersfield.
