The ill-fated department store confirmed last year that it was preparing to "wind down business" after JD Sports pulled out of rescue talks, putting around 12,000 jobs at risk.

Online retailer Boohoo later purchased the 243-year-old department store in a £55m deal, but confirmed it did not plan to maintain any stores.

Now, Debenhams has confirmed which stores will reopen on Monday, April 12 to complete a final closing down sale.

A spokesperson for Debenhams said: “This is the last chance for customers in England and Wales to visit their local Debenhams before sadly our stores close for good.

"We will be reopening with a fantastic range of offers and discounts across all of our customers’ favourite brands and products.

"Stocks are limited and expected to sell out quickly so customers should visit their nearest store quickly to avoid disappointment.

"We are very grateful for the efforts of our staff who have worked so hard throughout the most difficult of circumstances to keep the business trading."

Stores in Wakefield, Leeds, Meadowhall, Sheffield and White Rose are among those which will temporarily reopen in the coming weeks.

As part of the sale, Debenhams will offer limited-time bargains including up to 70 per cent off fashion and home and up to 50 per cent off beauty and fragrance.

These stores will start to close permanently from Sunday, May 2, with the stock clearance completed and final stores expected to close by Saturday, May 15.
