The camping and hiking shop has one store in the region on Hostingley Lane, Middlestown, that could be under threat.

Sports company JD, which owns the chain, has 67 of the stores nationwide and employs more than 2,000 people.

In a statement on Monday, JD Sports said: "The Group can confirm that it has considered a number of strategic options for Go and that Go's directors have lodged the Notice in Court.

"This Notice creates an immediate moratorium around the company and its property which lasts for ten business days. During this moratorium, Go's creditors cannot take legal action or continue with any existing legal proceedings against the company without the Court's permission."

The chain only began to reopen their store from early May, but continued restrictions on outdoor activities and the closure of campsites are likely to have hit sales.

JD paid £112 million for the chain in 2016.
