Commercial developer Eshton has promised a "contemporary and efficient development" on the site, at Park Road, Castleford, close to Xscape and Junction 32 Shopping Centre.

Planning permission has now been granted for the 1.5 acre site, which will house two commercial units, totalling 10,400 sq ft.

Richard Tovey, director at Eshton, said: “We always knew the site at Castleford had the potential to attract leading businesses, so are pleased to already have F1 Autocentres signed up as a tenant – the prestige of this letting proves the strength of the area and is testament to our choice of location.

“Simon Hill from Colliers’ Leeds office has been appointed to market the remaining 6,000 sq ft unit and with the scarcity of available buildings of this type in the area we are very confident it will let well.”

The first unit, offering 4,400sq ft of space, will house vehicle service provider F1 Autocentres, while the second, measuring 6,000 sq ft, will be let to another business.

Construction is expected to be completed in mid-2021.

According to documents submitted with the planning application, a total of 23 car parking spaces and 7 cycle spaces will be included on the site, which will be built next to an exiting Aldi store.
