New lease of life for Wakefield city centre bar Citizen Lounge after lockdown?
A former city centre boozer is set to re-branded post-lockdown, nearly two years after it served its last pint.
Citizen Lounge, on Westgate in Wakefield, will be renamed Bar 55, according to plans revealed on the local licensing list.
The venue, located next door to 80s bar Reflex, surrendered its alcohol licence in 2019, according to Wakefield Council's premises register.
Now, manager Mohammed Eslamm Ali has asked for permission for the bar to serve booze again, between 11am and midnight each day.
He's also indicated that the bar will serve food and, if given the required licence, play recorded music during opening hours.
Members of the public have until March 19 to make any comments on the application.
