New Netto chain to have its headquarters in Wakefield

Supermarket giants Sainsbury’s and Netto have teamed up to launch a new chain of stores which will create jobs and be headquartered in Wakefield.

Sainsbury’s has struck a new with Dansk Supermarked, Denmark’s biggest retailer, to set up a chain of 15 new Netto stores around the north of England.

The two companies confirmed that the new venture would have its headquarters in Wakefield and its distribution centre in Scunthorpe.

But bosses refused to confirm the exact location of the headquarters.

A Netto spokesman said: “We are developing plans for a number of new Netto stores across the north of England, with our headquarters based in Wakefield.

“We will continue to update the local community as we progress.”
