Joy Smith of Cinebling based in Normanton, has decided to make the pieces to show her appreciation for the hard work they have done through the pandemic.

And she says that a donation of £10 from each purchase will be made to the Care workers charity fund.

Joy said: “I recently came up with the idea because I wanted to give back to the people working so hard against the pandemic.

“I thought about doing rainbow pieces, a lot of brands were doing the same, and the amazing Captain Tom seems to have the NHS covered.

“One of reasons I picked care workers and crisis charities is because their role is often overlooked.

“They work so many hours and help out the elderly as well as providing comfort for families, so the carers build up relationships with their residents.

“It seems cruel that during the pandemic with all the extra deaths, the amazing people our carers work with get taken away from them.

“Personally, I’ve seen first hand what amazing work they do, a lot of these workers do it on minimum wage, so I want to raise money for them with these pieces to show them how appreciated they are.”

Joy, from Normanton, usually makes tailored jewellery for movie lovers.

She was going to release the hero charms as part of a different collection of jewellery, based around movie characters.

However, she released the new designs as part of the collection to raise money for the care workers to start raising the funds as soon as possible.

She said: “It’s also a reminder every day that even though pay back isn't in the millions they are doing something amazing, the care workers are heroes for a lot of people.”
